LAURENS, S.C. — Laurens District 55 High School senior Brayden Patterson has been picked as the Laurens County Touchdown Club Player of the Week for his work in the Raiders’ Oct. 30 season finale.

The wide receiver caught six passes for 157 yards against Greenwood, and two of those receptions went for touchdowns. Patterson also lined up on defense, playing both ways for Laurens.

His first scoring catch, on a deep throw from Jace Campbell, opened the game in the first quarter. The second, also from Campbell, came with 32 seconds left and closed out the scoring.

The night still ended in a 47-21 loss to Greenwood at K.C. Hanna Stadium, leaving the Raiders at 4-6 overall and 1-4 in region play. Laurens needed three other teams to lose to reach the postseason, and that path closed when York won its game.

Patterson will be honored when the Touchdown Club holds its last meeting of the season on Thursday, Nov. 19, at The Ridge, 301 Exchange Road in Laurens. Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County sponsors the weekly award.

That meeting starts at noon, with lunch served from 11:45 a.m., and is open to the public. Tickets cost $20 at the door. The program includes a preview of the South Carolina-Clemson football game, and coaches from area high schools and Presbyterian College are expected to recap their seasons. The club also plans to honor players of the week from the Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 games and from any playoff rounds that follow.
