CLINTON, S.C. — Clinton High School junior Angelo Cromer, who plays both running back and defensive back for the Red Devils, is the Laurens County Touchdown Club Player of the Week for the Oct. 16 slate of games, the club said Monday.
Cromer carried the ball 29 times for 250 yards, the best rushing total of his career, and added a touchdown and a two-point conversion. He also made 4.5 tackles and broke up several passes from his spot in the secondary.
His big night came as Clinton handled Mountain View Prep by a 46-34 count, a 12-point margin.
The club plans to recognize Cromer at its sixth meeting of the season on Oct. 29. That luncheon starts at noon at The Ridge, 301 Exchange Road in Laurens, with the serving line opening at 11:45 a.m. Former Clemson coach Danny Ford, who won the 1981 national championship with the Tigers, is the scheduled speaker.
The Touchdown Club gathers every other Thursday during football season, and anyone can attend. Tickets cost $15 at the door. Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County presents this year’s weekly awards.
