LAURENS, S.C. — A traveling exhibit about the everyday people who lived through the American Revolution will spend nearly two weeks at the Laurens County Museum, from Oct. 31 through Nov. 12.
Called the American Revolution Experience, the show pairs illustrated panels with touch-screen kiosks holding digital biographies of the people it profiles, along with details on present-day places tied to them that visitors can still go see. Dale Watson, an artist based in South Carolina, drew the artwork used throughout.
Museum hours for the exhibit run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
Laurens is the next stop after Lander University, which hosts the exhibit at its Jackson Library from Oct. 16 to 29.
The Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Battlefield Trust built the project together. It began as a website in the summer of 2022 before going on the road, and its sponsors have since stretched the tour through 2027 and put two more copies into circulation to meet requests from more than 600 sites. So far, over 70,000 people from all 50 states have seen it.
A full set includes 12 panels on individuals whose lives the war changed, with three kiosks that explain the broader conflict.
