Kobe Stewart joins Hornets roster

Published September 6, 2026 at 10:31 am | By Vijay Figueroa, Staff Reporter

Former Presbyterian College Player Kobe Stewart Joins Hornets Roster

Kobe Stewart, a former Presbyterian College basketball player, has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Charlotte Hornets, a move announced on September 4, 2026. This signing marks the fifth consecutive day the Hornets have added a free agent to their offseason roster, which now stands at 21 players. Stewart, a guard/forward, replaces Jarkel Joiner, who was waived by the team.

The Hornets’ strategy behind these Exhibit 10 contracts is to funnel players to their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. Stewart, along with Josiah Allick, Trey Townsend, and Kyle Mangas, are expected to join the Swarm as returning rights players this fall. These contracts offer bonuses of up to $91,000 on top of their NBAGL base salaries if the players spend at least 60 days with the Swarm.

Stewart, who went undrafted out of Presbyterian College in 2025, has already gained professional experience in the G League. During his first professional season, he played in 46 games for three different teams: the Austin Spurs, Memphis Hustle, and Wisconsin Herd. The 6-foot-6 swingman averaged 7.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 20.0 minutes per game. His shooting percentages were .455 from the field, .308 from three-point range, and .767 from the free-throw line.

Before signing with the Hornets, Stewart also participated in the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer Leagues in July, suiting up for the Bucks. He appeared in six games during these leagues, averaging 4.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game. For Stewart to officially join the Greensboro Swarm and receive his Exhibit 10 bonus, the Swarm will need to acquire his rights from the Wisconsin Herd through a trade.
