Dohnte Meyers joins Bengals roster

Published September 4, 2026 at 10:27 am | By Vijay Figueroa, Staff Reporter

Former Presbyterian College player Dohnte Meyers joins Bengals roster

Dohnte Meyers, a wide receiver who began his collegiate career at Presbyterian College, has secured a spot on the Cincinnati Bengals 53-man roster for the upcoming regular season. This achievement follows his successful tenure in the Canadian Football League (CFL) last year.

Meyers initially attended Presbyterian College on an academic scholarship, where he found success before transferring to Delta State University. His performance at Delta State earned him an invitation to the Atlanta Falcons rookie camp in 2023. However, that opportunity was brief, lasting only three days with limited reps, and he was unable to re-enter the NFL at that time.

Determined to continue his professional football career, Meyers pursued every available workout, including paying his own way to try out for the Canadian Football League. He made a significant impact with Saskatchewan in 2025, recording 65 receptions for 1,056 yards and eight touchdowns, contributing to the Roughriders winning the Grey Cup title.

The Bengals signed Meyers in January, a transaction that initially garnered little attention. He started offseason workouts near the bottom of the wide receiver depth chart but steadily advanced through consistent play. Bengals coach Zac Taylor noted that Meyers earned his spot by continuously making plays without specific schemes designed for him, highlighting his ability to make the most of opportunities.

Coach Taylor expressed satisfaction with Meyers’ camp performance, particularly his skill with the ball in his hands, his ability to create separation, and his good feel for the game. Meyers, who considers his multiple years of professional experience in the CFL as preparation for this NFL opportunity, learned he made the team during a phone call with receivers coach Troy Walters on cutdown day. He emphasized his journey is just beginning, aiming for more snaps, targets, and a larger role within the team.

The Bengals plan to explore Meyers’ potential in the return game and as a receiver, acknowledging the competitive nature of their receiver group.
