Clinton, SC – The Clinton Library is set to host a free screening of the beloved animated film “Shrek” on Thursday, June 12, from 6 PM to 8 PM. This event is part of the new summer reading program sponsored by the Laurens County Library System.

Attendees of the movie screening will have the opportunity to engage in a themed craft activity featuring a special slimy swamp pad. Light refreshments will also be provided during the film, creating an enjoyable environment for viewers of all ages. As a part of the “Crafter’s Cinema” series, the event is designated as free and open to the public.

The screening is just one of the many events lined up for the Laurens County Library System’s 2025 Summer Reading Program, which officially kicked off on June 9. This event took place at both the Laurens Library from 10 AM to 12 PM and the Clinton Library from 2 PM to 4 PM on the same day.

Looking ahead, the Clinton Library has scheduled two more free movie nights: “The Princess Bride” will follow “Shrek” on July 17, continuing the theme of family-friendly entertainment. Each movie night will be accompanied by themed crafts and refreshments to enhance the experience for attendees.

In addition to the movie screenings, the summer program features a diverse array of activities throughout June and July. Events will include performances by jugglers, live animal shows, and a special presentation by the Columbia Marionette Theatre. The lineup also includes various crafts and a trivia evening, ensuring there is something for everyone this summer.

All events organized by the Laurens Libraries are free and open to the public, encouraging community participation and access to enriching experiences. Interested attendees can sign up for events at both the Laurens and Clinton Library locations, with registration having started on June 2.
