CLINTON, S.C. — Downtown Clinton will turn into a trick-or-treat route for one evening next week, when the City of Clinton and the South Carolina Department of Social Services hold Monster Mash on Main Street on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The trunk-or-treat runs from 5 to 8 p.m., centered at 122 East Main Street. The city is promising free face painting, plenty of candy, music and a costume contest, and it has asked businesses and groups to sign on as sponsors or vendors, or to bring a decorated trunk or table and hand out treats. Those interested can sign up through a QR code on the event flyer, according to the city.
Like the other Halloween gatherings planned around Laurens County this month, the Clinton event is free to attend; families only need to bring costumes and some spending money if they want food or to shop.
Several other events fill out the county calendar. Gray Court opens the stretch with Boo on Main from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, with trunk-or-treating, contests for the best trunk and best costume, and games along Main Street.
Oct. 30 is the busiest night. The City of Laurens holds its yearly Halloween Spooktacular on the historic downtown square from 6 to 9 p.m., and the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office hosts its own trunk-or-treat from 5 to 7 p.m., where children can meet deputies and staff. The office is taking candy donations ahead of the event. Taylor Family Farms, at 4412 Highway 221 South in Laurens, plans a fall festival and trunk-or-treat from 5 to 8 p.m. that night with pumpkin activities, games, food and a costume contest.
On Halloween itself, LushAcres Farm invites young visitors in costume to trunk-or-treat at its fall festival, which also offers a corn maze and wagon rides.
