High School Sports Update: Fall Season Kicks Off in Vermont

This week marks the beginning of the 2024 Vermont high school fall sports season. Teams across the state are already showing their skills in sports such as soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running. Here’s a look at some of the game results from the past week.

Soccer Highlights

In one of the close matches, Richford edged out Paine Mountain with a score of 4-3. Burlington played a tight contest against Mount Mansfield, winning 2-1 with goals from Shedrick Bishula and Quinn Sessions.

South Burlington and Essex fought to a scoreless draw, while Harwood dominated U-32 with a decisive 3-0 victory, showcasing goals from Eamon Langlais and Brycen Scharf.

In a surprising turnaround, Missisquoi defeated Vergennes 3-1, pulling ahead with two second-half goals. In another notable game, St. Johnsbury triumphed over BFA-St. Albans with a dominating score of 5-1, featuring a hat trick from Luc Oliver.

Field Hockey Results

The Champlain Valley team showcased their strength with a convincing 6-1 victory against Burr and Burton, building a 4-0 lead by halftime. Rice also had a strong showing, defeating Middlebury 7-0 with Violet Clough earning a standout performance, scoring three goals.
