South Carolina Homicide Investigation

News Summary

Authorities in South Carolina have charged six individuals, including three juveniles, in the shooting death of Larisha Sharell Thompson, found dead in her car. A connection was made to a burglary incident prior to Thompson’s murder. One adult has been linked through ballistics evidence to both crimes. All suspects face serious charges, including murder, with immigration implications also in play. Local officials urge anyone with more information about the case to come forward as the investigation continues.

South Carolina – Six individuals have been charged in connection with the shooting death of Larisha Sharell Thompson, a 40-year-old woman found dead in her car on May 2, 2023. Thompson’s vehicle was located along Riverside Road, approximately seven miles from her home, after her family reported her missing when they lost contact with her while she was traveling to Rock Hill.

The case began on April 30, when deputies responded to a reported burglary at a local store. During this incident, a group of young men attempted to break into the store but caused damage to a bathroom door instead. Ballistics evidence collected from the crime scene later linked a handgun found at the burglary to Thompson’s homicide, prompting further investigation.

As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities arrested 21-year-old Asael Aminadas Torres-Chirinos. He has been connected to both the burglary incident and the shooting death of Thompson through his vehicle, a 2024 Honda Civic. Following a search warrant executed at Torres-Chirinos’ home, detectives recovered the handgun believed to have been used in both the burglary attempt and the shooting of Thompson.

In addition to Torres-Chirinos, two other adults were identified: 18-year-old Jarby Ardon Ramos-Odari and 17-year-old Jeyson Sobied Pinedo-Salgado. All three adults now face charges of murder, attempted armed robbery, and second-degree burglary, and they have all been denied bond.

The investigation took an additional turn with the detention of three juveniles, aged 15, 14, and 13, who also face similar charges, although their identities have not been disclosed due to their age. The juveniles will be charged in family court.

Local law enforcement believes that Thompson was a random victim of a robbery attempt. It is alleged that all six suspects were in Torres-Chirinos’ car during the incident, and reports indicate that Torres-Chirinos fired shots at Thompson’s locked vehicle while the group attempted to rob her.

Sheriff Barry Faile expressed strong condemnation of the violence surrounding this incident, calling the shooting an abhorrent act. In addition to the charges they face, all six suspects are subject to potential removal from the United States under federal immigration law, with Homeland Security having placed detainers on them.

The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office is encouraging anyone with additional information regarding the case to reach out to them.

This tragic event serves as a reminder of the tragic consequences that can arise from violent crime and the complexities involved in law enforcement’s response to such incidents. As the investigation continues, the community awaits further developments in this disturbing case.
