High School Sports Highlights: Lady Lions Dominating the Court and Field

High School Sports Update from Lafayette

Last night, the Lady Lions Basketball team celebrated a fantastic win against Opelousas High, finishing the game with an impressive score of 66 – 36. This victory propels them into their final game of the Southside Tournament, which is scheduled for Saturday morning at 9 AM. Fans are encouraged to come out and cheer for the team as they aim to close out the tournament on a high note. Go Lady Lions!

In other sports news, the Lady Lions Varsity Soccer team had a remarkable performance as well, triumphing over Catholic Senior High with a convincing score of 4 – 0. Scorers Brea Bailey and Haylan Chapman each netted two goals, showcasing their dominance on the field. Additionally, the junior varsity team also secured a victory, defeating Catholic Senior High 1 – 0 with a goal from Quentizicalli. Congratulations to both teams on their performances!

Meanwhile, the Lions Wrestling teams had an impressive run during the Thanksgiving break, participating in five different tournaments and bringing home a staggering total of 44 medals. This included 13 first-place finishes, 8 second-place, 9 third-place, and 14 fourth-place medals. The girls placed first overall in both the Dutchtown and East Ascension tournaments, while the boys claimed second place in the same competitions. Great job, Lions! Best of luck as they compete again this weekend in Brusly, Acadiana, and Rayne.
