El Paso, Texas saw an exciting week of volleyball matches from September 24 to 27. Various teams showcased their skills on the court, delivering thrilling games to the crowd.
On September 24, Ysleta triumphed over Riverside with scores of 25-11, 25-23, 23-25, and 25-16. Standout performances included Abby with 20 kills and 19 digs, while Rae provided 28 assists and 12 digs. Franklin also shined as they defeated Socorro 25-8, 25-19, 25-14, led by Victoria Bailey, who had 15 kills. The same day, Burges managed to win against Canutillo in a tight five-set match 18-25, 25-23, 25-20, 12-25, and 15-7.
In a swift victory, El Dorado swept Parkland with scores of 27-25, 25-22, and 25-10, featuring A. McGriff scoring 9 kills. On the other hand, Irvin managed to win against YWA with a final score of 22-25, 25-23, 25-13, and 25-23, highlighted by Amy Hernandez’s 6 kills and 5 aces.
Later in the week on September 27, Ysleta kept momentum, defeating Fabens 25-17, 25-12, and 25-9. Abby continued her excellent performance with 11 kills and 19 digs. Meanwhile, Eastwood earned a significant win over Coronado with scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-12, while Franklin faced a tough opponent in Eastlake, ending their match in a tightly contested 28-26, 25-23, 14-25, and 25-22 loss.
As the season progresses, teams are working hard not just for victories but also for positioning as they head towards the district tournaments. High school volleyball continues to be a source of pride and spirit for El Paso’s communities, with athletes demonstrating great skill and sportsmanship.
