Minneapolis was buzzing last night as fans gathered for the high-stakes football semifinals of the state tournament at U.S. Bank Stadium. The excitement of the games was evident, and the players didn’t disappoint.
In the Class 6A semifinals, the Minnetonka Skippers took on Anoka with an impressive performance. Quarterback Caleb Francois stole the show, rushing for a staggering 283 yards and scoring five touchdowns. Though Anoka’s quarterback, Peyton Podany, put up a good fight with three touchdown passes, it wasn’t enough to topple the Skippers. The final score was 48-27, sending Minnetonka to the championship game.
In the Class 4A semifinals, Becker triumphed over Marshall with a solid 28-7 victory, securing their spot in the finals as well.
The 9-man semifinals were equally thrilling. Fertile-Beltrami dominated LeRoy-Ostrander, winning with a considerable margin of 60-33. Hills-Beaver Creek edged out Mtn. Iron-Buhl in a nail-biter, finishing 26-20.
Aside from football, girls’ hockey saw numerous games across the state. In the GIRLS MISSISSIPPI 8, Chisago Lakes defeated Northern Tier with a score of 6-4. In other notable results, Edina showcased a powerful game against Rogers, winning 8-0, while Prior Lake secured a strong 4-0 win over Eagan.
As the season continues, the excitement only builds for high school teams across Minnesota. Fans are eager to see who will take home the championship titles in the upcoming finals.
