High School Sports Roundup – October 23
Baltimore has seen some thrilling high school sports action this past Wednesday, October 23. Various teams took to the field and showcased their talents in impressive matchups.
In boys’ soccer, Harford Tech kicked off their playoff journey in style, defeating Joppatowne with a decisive score of 8-0. The defending Class 1A state champions were led by standout performances from Brody Smith and Colby Golding, who both netted two goals. Additional efforts from Brayden Chryst, Zach Lane, Reese Topfer, and Robert Brzezinski rounded out the scoring. Lane and Brzezinski also played playmakers, recording two assists each.
Patterson Mill also enjoyed a stellar day, overwhelming Frederick Douglass with a massive 12-0 victory. Carson Harting and Chandler Williams were key contributors, each scoring twice. Others who found the net included Phil Tolliver, Nate Kiefer, and several more. It was an impressive offensive showcase in the Class 1A North Region II quarterfinals.
Over in the Class 3A matches, Bel Air secured a strong win against Digital Harbor, coming out on top 7-0. Mason Smedley stood out with a hat trick, while teammates Blake Stallard and others aided in the scoring.
The matchup between Poly and Aberdeen saw the Engineers win comfortably with a 3-0 score, while Fallston managed a close 2-1 victory against North Harford, with Levi Tanguay and Ariya Khairghadam scoring in the second half.
In another notable matchup, Broadneck demonstrated dominance with a commanding 10-0 win over Suitland. Raef Barradel and Jaydyn Lowe each contributed two goals to this impressive victory.
In girls’ soccer, Glenelg defeated Poolesville decisively as well, scoring 9-0, with Grace Sung leading scoring efforts. The Westminster Owls also crushed North Hagerstown with a similar scoreline, further showcasing the competitive spirit of these high school teams.
