High School Football Playoffs Heat Up in Kansas City Area

This week in Kansas City, thrilling high school football action took center stage as teams battled it out in the playoffs on both sides of the Kansas-Missouri state line. Excitement filled the air as crowds gathered to support their favorite teams.

In Friday’s Class 6 quarterfinals, Nixa edges out Lee’s Summit North in a closely contested game with a final score of 21-20. Meanwhile, Kirkwood took down Jackson with an impressive performance, winning 45-35.

Saturday’s lineup featured more Class 6 quarterfinal matchups, including Park Hill facing off against Liberty at 1 p.m. Additionally, De Smet is set to take on Columbia Rock Bridge, also at 1 p.m.

Class 5 quarterfinal results showed Platte County shutting out Webb City with a score of 35-0, and MICDS dominating Fort Zumwalt West at 49-3 on Friday. Saturday’s games include Lafayette (Wildwood) going up against Cardinal Ritter and Helias Catholic playing against Republic, both set for 1 p.m.

In Class 4, Kearney showcased their strength with a commanding 49-14 win over Warrensburg. Upcoming games include Lutheran North against Parkway North and Festus facing Gateway STEM on Saturday.

The Class 3 quarterfinals will take place Saturday as well, featuring teams like Maryville at Odessa and Dexter going up against Lift for Life Academy Charter.

In lower classifications, several teams also made headlines. For instance, in the Class 1 district championships, Penney topped North Platte 35-13, while Adrian managed a narrow win over Marionville with a score of 17-16.

As the playoffs continue, high school football fans in the Kansas City area eagerly anticipate what promises to be an exciting run towards the championship games.
