Last year’s efforts saw over 60,000 pounds of trash collected, and everyone is encouraged to participate this year for a cleaner, greener environment.

Get Ready for the Greatest American Cleanup in Laurens County!

Laurens County is buzzing with excitement as the nationally recognized organization, Keep America Beautiful, kicks off its incredible initiative, the Greatest American Cleanup. Running until June 20, 2025, this event invites individuals from all over the country to join in the fun of sprucing up their communities in preparation for America’s 250th birthday celebration!

25 Pieces of Litter for 250 Years!

To mark this historic milestone, Keep America Beautiful is asking every person to pick up at least 25 pieces of litter. It’s a small but impactful step that can create a big difference in our environmental surroundings. With April designated as an important month dedicated to environmental awareness, coinciding with Earth Day on April 22, there’s no better time to get involved!

Clean Up Month Across the Upstate

Locally, Keep Laurens County Beautiful (KLCB) is revving up the excitement by encouraging residents throughout the Upstate to participate in an environmental cleanup month. Often, communities choose April 22 for cleanups to celebrate Earth Day, but KLCB is going a step further by promoting events all month long. This gives individuals more opportunities to join in on the good work with friends, family, or even solo!

A Giant Effort Last Year

Last year was a smashing success! Across the Upstate, over 60,000 pounds of trash were collected by more than 2,000 volunteers during similar cleanup events. It’s amazing what a little teamwork can accomplish, and this initiative aims to not only clean up but also prevent waste and educate the community on responsible waste management. These efforts are crucial for ensuring a healthier, greener environment for everyone.

Your Support goes a Long Way

Those interested in making a positive impact will find that participating in the cleanup doesn’t have to be a massive effort! Even a short 30-minute litter pick-up in your local area can contribute to creating a cleaner and more beautiful community. Every piece of trash counts!

Upcoming Cleanup Events

Join the city of Laurens for an official Clean Up Day at 8:30 a.m. on April 22. Supplies will be available at the historic square, so all you have to bring is your enthusiasm and a desire to help! Additionally, Fountain Inn is partnering with KLCB and Keep Greenville County Beautiful for their clean-up event taking place from 9 to 11 a.m. on April 22 at The Pavilion on Depot Street. It’s a great way to connect with fellow nature lovers while working toward a common goal.

Safety First!

For everyone’s safety, it’s recommended to wear comfortable clothing, such as long pants and tennis shoes, during these events. It’s important to keep in mind that while it’s a fun day of service, safety should always come first!

Stay Connected and Get Involved!
