Born on August 31, 1962, in Pickens, South Carolina, Eric was the son of the late Wayne Hooper and Margaret Brittle. He lived a life touched by simplicity and joy. Known for enjoying playful activities such as spinning tops, Eric appreciated the warmth of arm and back rubs. Additionally, he found pleasure in flipping through the pages of Southern Living magazines, reflecting his appreciation for the comforts of Southern culture.

In addition to his siblings, he leaves behind nine nieces and nephews: Candace, Christine, Stanley, Nicholas, Amanda, Ariana, Derek, Chase, and Job, along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews who will deeply miss him.

The family has organized a graveside service to honor Eric’s life, scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, SC. Friends and loved ones are invited for a time of visitation with the family prior to the service from 12:00 to 12:45 PM in the Garden Room of Dillard Funeral Home. Eric’s roommates from Unit 108 at the Whitten Center will serve as honorary pallbearers, a testament to the camaraderie and friendships Eric built during his life.
