This week has been thrilling for high school athletes across the Twin Cities area, with numerous basketball, gymnastics, hockey, and wrestling matches showcasing the talent of local teams.

Basketball Highlights

In boys basketball, Chaska edged out Shakopee with a close score of 67-62, demonstrating their resilience on the court. Hopkins continued their strong season, taking down Totino-Grace with a score of 91-78. Meanwhile, Minneapolis Edison secured a solid victory over Metro Prep, dominating the game with a score of 56-26, and Prairie Seeds also shone, defeating AFSA 67-15.

For the girls basketball teams, standout performances included Benilde-St. Margaret’s winning against Byron with a tight score of 58-56. Chaska also triumphed, beating Shakopee 65-49. Other impressive results came from Hopkins, who managed to overcome Eastview 68-61, while Minneapolis Edison claimed a convincing victory over St. Paul Humboldt, finishing at 52-28.

Gymnastics Showcase

In gymnastics, Wayzata scored an impressive 137.45 to defeat Minnetonka, which tallied 128.875. Centennial also performed well in the Northwest Suburban conference, recording a score of 121.025 against Champlin Park’s 110.975. Michaela Osland from Centennial stood out in the all-around competition with a score of 33.325.

Hockey Results

The boys’ hockey scene saw Park of Cottage Grove dominating against Hastings with a remarkable score of 9-1. For the girls, Blaine managed a narrow victory against Osseo/Park Center, finishing 2-1. Benilde-St. Margaret’s continued their strong performance in girls’ hockey, shutting out Farmington with a score of 7-0.

Wrestling Action

In boys wrestling, Washington defeated Como Park with a final score of 42-33, adding another victory to their season.
