Simpson was the widower of Linda Poore Simpson and was born on August 30, 1931, in Clinton, South Carolina. He was the son of the late George Robert Simpson, Sr., and Banna Nabors Simpson. As a proud veteran, he served in the South Carolina National Guard, where he demonstrated his commitment to his country during a time of need.
Throughout his career, Bobby Simpson dedicated himself to public service in various capacities. He retired from Whitten Center, where he held the position of Fire Marshal. His commitment to safety and community well-being extended beyond his professional life, as he also volunteered as a firefighter for the City of Clinton for an impressive 32 years. This service highlights his unwavering dedication to protecting the lives and property of others.
In addition to his civic engagement, Simpson was a devoted member of Hurricane Baptist Church. His faith and community involvement were cornerstones of his life, and he was well-regarded by fellow congregants and local residents alike.
Bobby Simpson is survived by three sons: Bobby Welborn of West Columbia, Steve Welborn of Athens, Georgia, and Michael Welborn of Hodges. A memorial service in honor of Bobby Simpson is scheduled for Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 3:00 PM. The service will take place at Hurricane Baptist Church, where Rev. Jake Patterson is set to officiate. One hour prior to the memorial service, family members will welcome friends and community members to share in remembrance and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Hurricane Baptist Church, located at 2963 Hurricane Church Rd, Clinton, SC 29325.
