Bloomington High School Sports Update: November 11-16
This week in Bloomington high school sports, the girls’ basketball teams showcased their skills with several competitive matchups. Here’s a recap of the games from November 11 to 16.
Bedford North Lawrence Tops Bloomington North
In a challenging game, Bedford North Lawrence defeated Bloomington North with a final score of 57-42. Kate Lehr was the standout player for the Cougars, scoring a game-high 21 points. However, Bloomington North was missing key players, including starter Ashley Stegemoller and reserve Lulu Frank due to injuries. The Stars managed to secure a halftime lead of 21-16 and gradually extended their advantage throughout the game.
Owen Valley Overcomes Early Deficit Against Greencastle
In another matchup, Owen Valley came from behind to secure a convincing 52-36 victory over Greencastle. Despite starting slow and trailing after the first quarter, the Patriots rallied back, especially strong in the second quarter, where they held Greencastle to just 2 points. Hannah Bixler led the scoring with 20 points, while Aubrey Sparks contributed 13 points for Owen Valley.
Loogootee Dominates Eastern Greene
In their season opener, the Loogootee Lions had a strong showing against Eastern Greene, winning 55-29. Loogootee established a commanding lead early on and never looked back, leading 27-13 at halftime. The Lions showcased their defensive prowess, limiting Eastern Greene to just 1 point in the third quarter.
White River Valley Scores Big Against Lighthouse Christian
Finally, White River Valley achieved an impressive victory, defeating Lighthouse Christian 91-13. The Wolverines demonstrated their offensive strength, leading 56-10 at the break. This match marked a record for White River Valley, as it was their highest point total since scoring 99 points against Eminence in 2016.
