Bladen County High School Football Teams Prepare for New Season with Upcoming Scrimmages and Matches

Bladen County, North Carolina – The East Bladen High School and West Bladen High School football teams are gearing up for the new season with a series of scrimmages and jamborees scheduled in August. The teams will participate in multiple scrimmages leading up to their regular season debuts on August 22.

Upcoming Scrimmages

East Bladen will start its pre-season activities with a scrimmage against several teams in Laurinburg on Friday, August 8. The scrimmage is set to kick off at 6 p.m. and will also feature teams like Scotland, Westover, Anson, and Union.

On August 9, West Bladen will compete in the Dennis Miller Jamboree held at McAlpine Stadium in Bennettsville, South Carolina. West Bladen is slated to face Atlantic Collegiate at 6 p.m. Other matchups in this jamboree include West Columbus vs. Wilson of Florence at 7 p.m. and Marlboro County vs. Northeast Guilford.

East Bladen will return to the field for its second scrimmage on August 14, going up against Topsail at 6 p.m. This scrimmage takes place at West Brunswick High School as part of the Bash at the Beach. The opening night will also see Wallace-Rose Hill competing against New Hanover at 7:15 p.m. and Whiteville facing Wilmington Ashley at 8:15 p.m..

More Jamborees and Season Debut

The second day of the Bash at the Beach on August 15 will feature additional scrimmages, including South Columbus vs. North Brunswick at 5 p.m. and Northside-Jacksonville vs. West Brunswick at 8:30 p.m..

West Bladen’s second scrimmage is also part of the Sampson County Pigskin Jamboree at Clinton High School on August 15, where they will play Lakewood at 8 p.m.. Other notable games during the Pigskin Jamboree include Union vs. Western Harnett, Hobbton vs. Lejeune, Midway vs. Triton, and Clinton vs. James Kenan, with varying start times between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m..

Both teams are scheduled to open their regular seasons on Friday, August 22. West Bladen will host Pender, while East Bladen travels to face Heide Trask. Kickoff for both matches is set for 7 p.m..

Boys’ Soccer and Other Sports

In addition to football, the Bladen Cup boys’ soccer scrimmages will take place on August 9 at East Bladen High School starting at 5:30 p.m.. East Bladen’s varsity team will play against Purnell Swett at 6:35 p.m. and Whiteville at 8:55 p.m.. The East Bladen JV squad will face Purnell Swett at 5:30 p.m. and Whiteville at 8 p.m. on the same day.

The West Bladen boys’ soccer team recently secured a victory over Lumberton, winning the scrimmage 3-2. Meanwhile, the first regular season boys’ soccer matches are approaching, with West Bladen traveling to Union on August 11 and East Bladen playing at South Columbus on August 12.

Volleyball season will also kick off with West Bladen visiting Union on August 11 and East Bladen competing at South Columbus on August 12. Additionally, girls’ tennis will begin as East Bladen hosts Rosewood on August 11 and West Bladen plays at Pine Forest on August 12.

As both high schools gear up for an exciting season of sports, the community looks forward to supporting their teams throughout the competitions ahead.
