Altoona High School Football Playoffs Set for Thrilling Weekend Matchups

The basketball season is heating up in Western Pennsylvania as high schools prepare for a busy weekend filled with exciting matchups. With numerous tournaments scheduled across the region, fans can expect to see plenty of action on the court.

On Friday evening, various tournaments will kick off. At the Armstrong tournament, Highlands will face off against Armstrong at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile, in the Ellwood City tournament, Blackhawk will compete against Rochester at 6 p.m. Following that, Union will take on Ellwood City at 7:30 p.m.

The Geneva College/Lincoln Park tournament will see Beaver Falls play Ambridge at 6 p.m., and Moon will take on Imani Christian at 7:30 p.m. Later, East Liverpool (Ohio) will face Lincoln Park at 9 p.m. In the Latrobe tournament, Richland battles Windber at 6 p.m., followed by Mt. Pleasant going up against Latrobe at 8 p.m.

Other games on Friday include Riverside against Sharpsville at 4 p.m. in the Laurel tournament, and Valley meeting Summit Academy at 4:30 p.m. in the Leechburg tournament. The McGuffey tournament will feature Chartiers-Houston battling Frazier at 6 p.m. and Avella facing McGuffey at 8 p.m.

Saturday offers more action with several championship and consolation games on the docket. Notable matchups include Deer Lakes at Armstrong at 4 p.m. and Blackhawk versus Union at the Ellwood City tournament at 1:30 p.m.

Girls’ high school basketball will also see fierce competition this weekend. Events include the Avella tournament, where Burgettstown will meet McGuffey at 6 p.m., and Sto-Rox facing Deer Lakes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
