Exciting Kickoff for Vermont High School Fall Football Season 2024

In Burlington, the 2024 Vermont high school fall sports season is officially underway, with a mix of exhilarating games and impressive performances across various sports. Students are stepping up to showcase their skills on the field and court, making for an exciting atmosphere this season.

In girls’ soccer, several matches kept fans on the edge of their seats. Mount Mansfield and Champlain Valley played to a 1-1 draw, featuring goals from Delilah Locher for MMU and Reese Kingsbury for CVU. Strong defensive efforts were evident, with Toni Cardinal and Hannah Zabalinski totaling 11 saves for Mount Mansfield.

Burlington enjoyed a convincing victory over BFA-St. Albans, winning 6-0. Ella Knudsen led the charge with an impressive 2 goals and 3 assists, while the team combined for a solid performance.

Mount Abraham also shone with a 2-0 win against Rice, with goals from Safoura Camara and Louisa Painter, highlighting the strong teamwork and resolve of the players. Meanwhile, Essex pulled off a thrilling 2-1 victory over defending D-I champion Colchester, thanks to Molly Gilbert’s timely goal.

In field hockey, Fair Haven triumphed over Otter Valley with a score of 4-2, driven by Maddy Perry’s 2 goals and 1 assist. The game illustrated Fair Haven’s capability to dominate play on both ends of the field.

In volleyball, BFA-Fairfax celebrated a decisive 5-0 victory, with Paige Cargill contributing significantly to the win. Significant matches are upcoming, with South Burlington set to face Rice and Montpelier to go against Burlington later this week.
