De Pere High School Sports Summary
In De Pere, this past weekend saw strong performances from local high school teams in both golf and volleyball, highlighting the competitive spirit of our athletes.
Girls Golf Regional Title
In the girls’ golf regional title match, Bay Port emerged victorious with a solid team score of 359, successfully advancing to the sectional meet. De Pere finished a close second with a score of 361. Other teams that secured their spots for the sectionals included Green Bay Preble Co-op in third with 393 and Notre Dame in fourth at 408.
Three golfers tied for individual medalist honors, each shooting 86: Payton Dudra from Bay Port, Lucy Kim from De Pere, and Emma Cunningham from Green Bay Preble Co-op. Advancing as individual qualifiers were Talia Schlindwein, Ella Szekeress, Anika Creisher, and Grace Melzer. The sectional will take place on October 8 at Thornberry Creek at Oneida in Hobart.
Volleyball Highlights
The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans had an impressive match against the Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes, winning in straight sets 27-25, 25-14, 25-16. Coach Jeff Frey praised the team for their resilience after a challenging previous game. Aubrey Frey led the Spartans with 15 kills and 15 digs.
Meanwhile, the NEW Lutheran Blazers improved their record to 18-6 with a win against the Pioneers, taking the match 25-17, 26-24, 25-22. Emma Laatsch had a standout performance, finishing with 19 digs and 11 kills.
The volleyball teams from Oconto and Kewaunee also shined in their matches, with Oconto winning over the Bulldogs 25-23, 25-20, 25-21, and Kewaunee defeating the Eagles 25-11, 25-19, 26-24.
As the athletes gear up for the upcoming sectionals and matches, the spirit of competition remains alive in De Pere.
