North Platte High School Sports Update
In North Platte, the local high school sports scene was buzzing with action this week as both softball and volleyball teams took to the field and courts against their rivals.
Softball Scores
In the softball arena, the North Platte team faced a tough challenge against McCook, losing the game 8-0. Other matchups saw Cozad putting on a dominant performance, defeating Chase County with a score of 24-7. Hershey also played a doubleheader against Bayard, winning the first game 4-0 before narrowly losing the second game 6-5.
Volleyball Scores
Meanwhile, in volleyball, it was a strong night for the local teams. Overton defeated Brady in straight sets (3-0) with scores of 26-24, 25-13, 25-16. Chase County also had a solid performance against Sidney, winning (3-0) with scores of 25-23, 25-17, 26-24. Hershey continued its impressive streak, taking down Kimball (3-0) with scores 25-8, 25-13, 25-20.
In other matches, Ogallala beat Cozad, while Anselmo-Merna played against South Loup (Callaway/Arnold), winning both sets (2-0) with scores 27-25, 25-21. At a triangular event, Elm Creek secured victories over both Anselmo-Merna and South Loup, each time winning (2-0) with scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-10, 25-15 respectively.
More Volleyball Highlights
In the Paxton Tournament, Paxton defeated Wallace (2-0) with scores of 25-16, 25-11, while Wauneta-Palisade also took down Potter Dix (2-0) 25-6, 25-21. In a closely contested match, Potter Dix came back to beat Wallace (2-1) with scores 18-25, 25-21, 25-20. Wauneta-Palisade then finished strong against Paxton in the championship match, winning (2-0) with scores of 25-14, 25-17.
College Volleyball Update
In college volleyball, McCook Community College won against North Platte Community College, sweeping the match (3-0) with scores of 25-19, 25-19, 26-24.
