Clinton to Honor First Responders During Presbyterian College Football Game

Community Hero Celebration

Clinton to Celebrate Local Heroes at Presbyterian College Football Game

In the heart of Clinton, a special event is coming to town that’s set to honor the heroes among us. Firefighters and first responders who bravely tackled the devastating blaze that affected several businesses in downtown Clinton on Aug. 27 will be recognized at an upcoming Presbyterian College football game. This heartfelt tribute is scheduled to take place during halftime of the match against Gardner-Webb University on Saturday, Sept. 21, beginning at 7 p.m. at Bailey Memorial Stadium.

A Community Appreciation for Our First Responders

For all those who served on that fateful day, along with their families, Presbyterian College is offering complimentary tickets and reserved seating. It’s a wonderful way for the community to come together and express gratitude. Dean of Athletics Dee Nichols reflected on this moment, saying, “We are deeply grateful for this opportunity to honor the many first responders who put themselves at risk daily to protect people and property — and we want to thank them publicly for their quick response when we needed it.” It’s not just about the game; it’s a time to unite in recognition of those who selflessly serve.

A Proud Moment for Presbyterian College

Dr. Anita Gustafson, President of Presbyterian College, echoed these sentiments by highlighting the importance of community service and emergency response. She stated, “At Presbyterian College, we believe that service to others and to the community is paramount. On Aug. 27, first responders from all over Laurens County and the Upstate bravely answered the call to serve during a dangerous and life-threatening situation.” Her words resonate with the message that within the community, there are extraordinary individuals ready to leap into action when their neighbors need them most.
