Thompson’s body was found inside her vehicle along Riverside Road on May 2, after she was reported missing earlier that evening by her family. According to Sheriff Barry Faile, the arrests were made following a thorough investigation into Thompson’s death. Her car was located approximately seven miles from her home, and evidence suggests that she was the victim of a random robbery attempt. Authorities believe that the suspects were attempting to access her vehicle when the shooting occurred.
Initial police investigations began after a burglary was reported at a local store on April 30. The business owner informed detectives of several young men attempting to break in. The suspects fled the scene after damaging a bathroom door. Ballistics evidence collected from the burglary scene matched that found in Thompson’s vehicle, leading detectives closer to their suspects.
One of the accused, Asael Aminadas Torres-Chirinos, 21, was arrested at his home where law enforcement recovered the handgun believed to have been utilized in both the burglary and the murder. Torres-Chirinos’ vehicle, a 2024 Honda Civic, is also linked to both crime scenes.
Alongside Torres-Chirinos, two additional adults, Jarby Ardon Ramos-Odari, 18, and Jeyson Sobied Pinedo-Salgado, 17, were charged with murder, attempted armed robbery, and second-degree burglary. Torres-Chirinos faces further charges, including two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a firearm by an unlawful alien. All three adult suspects remain in custody without bond.
Additionally, three juveniles aged 15, 14, and 13 have been charged in this case. Their identities have not been disclosed due to their age, and they will be processed through family court.
The investigation indicates that the suspects were in Torres-Chirinos’ vehicle when they targeted Thompson. After they pulled alongside her car, Torres-Chirinos allegedly shot her. Following this, the suspects reportedly attempted to break into her vehicle but fled when they realized it was locked.
Sheriff Faile highlighted the severity of the crime, emphasizing that it reflects a troubling trend in societal decency. He expressed the belief that the suspects do not belong in the community and urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
In addition to the murder charges, all six suspects are subject to removal from the United States under federal immigration law, with the Department of Homeland Security placing immigration detainers on them.
