Simpson was the widower of Linda Poore Simpson and was born on August 30, 1931, in Clinton, South Carolina. He was the son of the late George Robert Simpson, Sr., and Banna Nabors Simpson. As a proud veteran, he served in the South Carolina National Guard, where he demonstrated his commitment to his country during a time of need.
Throughout his career, Bobby Simpson dedicated himself to public service in various capacities. He retired from Whitten Center, where he held the position of Fire Marshal. His commitment to safety and community well-being extended beyond his professional life, as he also volunteered as a firefighter for the City of Clinton for an impressive 32 years. This service highlights his unwavering dedication to protecting the lives and property of others.
In addition to his civic engagement, Simpson was a devoted member of Hurricane Baptist Church. His faith and community involvement were cornerstones of his life, and he was well-regarded by fellow congregants and local residents alike.
Bobby Simpson is survived by three sons: Bobby Welborn of West Columbia, Steve Welborn of Athens, Georgia, and Michael Welborn of Hodges.
