High School Football Championship Weekend in Pittsburgh

In the Class 5A championship, top-ranked Pine-Richland (11-1) will clash with Peters Township (11-1) at 8 p.m. The afternoon game features a showdown in Class 3A as Avonworth (10-3) takes on Central Valley (7-5) at 5 p.m. Earlier in the day, Seton LaSalle (11-0) will face South Park (11-1) at 2 p.m. in the Class 2A final.

The action kicks off bright and early at 11 a.m. when Fort Cherry (13-0) squares off against Clairton (13-0) for the Class A title. Fans are expected to gather in large numbers, supporting their teams in hopes of bringing home the coveted championship trophies.

Looking ahead, high school activities continue beyond Saturday, with the PIAA playoffs taking place in various classes. This upcoming Friday is stacked with games, with Central Catholic (10-2) facing State College (11-1) at Forest Hills at 7 p.m. and many more teams across multiple classifications set to compete.
