Minneapolis – Friday was an exciting day for high school sports, particularly in Minnesota, as various teams competed in crucial matches across different sports.
In the Adapted Soccer CI Division State Tournament, Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville dominated St. Cloud with a convincing score of 6-0. Dakota United also showed their strength by defeating Buffalo/Monticello/STMA, 3-0. Park Center faced off against So. Washington Co. in a thrilling game that ended with Park Center winning 9-6. South Suburban secured a solid victory against Stillwater/Mahtomedi, finishing with a score of 8-4.
The PI Division State Tournament featured some great performances as well, with Dakota United blanking St. Paul Humboldt 6-0. Mpls. South had a strong showing against South Suburban, winning 11-0. Park Center continued their successful run with a solid 6-2 win over Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka. Meanwhile, Rochester won against Anoka-Hennepin with a score of 8-3.
Moving onto football, the Class 6A State Tournament semifinals saw Maple Grove advance to the finals following a 26-14 victory over Shakopee. In the Class 5A semifinals, Elk River edged past Chanhassen in a close game ending 21-19. Totino-Grace kept their championship hopes alive in Class 4A with a 30-21 win against Orono.
In Class 2A, Jackson County Central secured their spot in the finals with a close 34-26 victory over Kimball, while Staples-Motley also advanced with a 36-24 win over Chatfield.
The action continued on the ice in girls’ hockey with a series of competitive games. Anoka defeated St. Cloud 4-2, and Delano/Rockford edged out Luverne in an overtime thriller, winning 3-2. Dodge County similarly triumphed over Breck, winning 3-2 in overtime. Other notable scores included Eden Prairie beating Grand Rapids/Greenway 6-4, and Moorhead dominating Buffalo with a score of 6-0.
It was a day filled with remarkable performances across various high school sports, promising an exciting rest of the season.
