High School Sports Recap: Soccer and Volleyball Highlights
In the Twin Cities metro area, high school sports were in full swing on Tuesday as teams competed fiercely in soccer and volleyball semifinals.
Soccer Semifinals
In the Class 3A State Tournament, the Trojans from Wayzata dominated Eagan with a definitive score of 5-0. Meanwhile, Edina earned their place in the championship game, defeating East Ridge 3-1. Both teams will be looking to take home the title this Friday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Class 2A semifinals also saw strong performances, with Holy Angels overpowering Orono 4-1 and Mahtomedi rolling past Mankato East with a commanding 7-0 victory. Both teams will meet in the final for a chance to claim the championship.
In the Class 1A semifinals, Providence Academy shut out St. Charles/Lewiston-Altura 3-0, while Southwest Christian edged out Esko 2-1. These teams are set to clash for the title as well.
Volleyball Semifinals
The volleyball courts were just as bustling, with several exciting matches taking place in different sections. In Class 4A, Minnetonka triumphed over Prior Lake with a close set score of 3-2, while Waconia defeated Chaska with a score of 3-1.
From Section 7, Anoka completed a comeback against Forest Lake, winning 3-1, and Centennial defeated Blaine in a tight contest that ended 3-1 as well.
In Class 3A, Alexandria took down Detroit Lakes 3-0, with Rocori also winning decisively over St. Cloud Tech 3-0.
This Tuesday’s games showcased the hard work and dedication of student-athletes across the state, setting the stage for an exciting finish to the season.
