CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College sent its eight seniors off in style Saturday afternoon in Clinton, outlasting UNC Asheville 3-2 at the Templeton Center. PC won the first and third sets 25-22 and the fifth 15-11, while the Bulldogs took the second 25-16 and the fourth 25-17.

Defense at the net carried the day. The Blue Hose finished with 18 blocks, the most by the program since it moved to Division I. The previous high, 17, was set against Winthrop back on Nov. 15, 2012.

Meredith Reisman had 10 of those blocks, four of them solo, which tied the program record for a single match in the Division I era. It was her second 10-block night this fall; the first came Oct. 10 at USC Upstate. Courtney Williams added six blocks and matched her season best with 18 kills.

Setter Anisa Dorlouis logged 36 assists and 21 digs for her 18th double-double of the year, while Julia Yurkovich set a season high with 13 digs.

The teams traded sets until the end. Asheville swung .333 in the second set and held PC to .088, then won the fourth after the Blue Hose hit below zero in that frame. In the deciding set the score was knotted at 10 before Presbyterian took five of the final six points, and a Bulldogs attack error ended it.

Addie Brookbank and Albertine van der Goot each put down 19 kills for UNC Asheville. Brookbank also had 17 digs and five aces, and Cadence Nichols led the visitors with seven blocks. The loss leaves the Bulldogs at 17-12 and 5-8 in the Big South.

Before first serve, PC honored seniors Williams, Dorlouis, Reisman, Yurkovich, Amaris Alvarez, Brittney Daphnis, Celimar Hoyos and Ashley Miller. The win moves Presbyterian to 9-18 and 3-10 in league play. The Blue Hose finish the regular season at Charleston Southern on Friday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m.
