The tightest local contest of the night came in neighboring District 55, where only 21 votes separated the candidates for Seat 6. Nick Babb ended the count with 694 votes and Lee McDaniel with 673. Cathy Little won District 55 Seat 2 by a wider spread, 933 votes to 709 for Melissa Brown, and Mike Hughes ran unopposed for Seat 4 with 1,328 votes.

Countywide, 23,548 ballots were cast out of 41,763 registered voters, putting turnout at 56 percent.

Republicans won each of the five contested state House races on the county’s ballot. Incumbent Rick Shealy held House District 14 with 8,959 votes against 5,321 for Democrat Michanna Tate and 156 for Henry D. Jones of the United Citizens Party. In House District 42, incumbent Doug Gilliam drew 2,003 votes in the county to 1,565 for Democrat Robert Larry Williams.
