CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College football celebrates Homecoming in Clinton on Halloween this year, and the Blue Hose will have their hands full when Butler visits Bailey Memorial Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff Saturday.

PC (4-4, 3-2 Pioneer Football League) has not lost at home since Oct. 19, 2024. Its 11 straight wins in Clinton are a program record and tied for the third-longest active home streak in the Football Championship Subdivision. Butler (6-2, 3-1) arrives tied for first in the league with Dayton, St. Thomas and Marist, with PC and Valparaiso one game back.

The Blue Hose are trying to rebound from a 24-7 loss at Valparaiso. The Bulldogs are coming off a 33-21 win at Drake, their first victory over Drake since 2015.

The matchup pits strength against strength. PC, in its first season under head coach Matt Rahl, averages 179 rushing yards and 415 total yards a game, both in the national top 30. Butler owns the top rushing defense in the FCS, giving up only 88.9 yards a game on the ground, and leads the country with a plus-13 turnover margin.

Quarterback Landon Sharpe drives the PC offense. He has thrown for 1,676 yards and 12 touchdowns while completing 60.5 percent of his passes, and he is also the team’s leading rusher with 464 yards. Caleb Johnson leads the receivers with 31 catches for 383 yards, and linebacker Ryan Largin has a team-high 45 tackles.

The series has been close since PC joined the league. Butler won the first meeting 27-17 in Indianapolis in 2023, and the Blue Hose have taken the last two, including a 30-27 home win over a ranked Butler team in November 2024 and a 31-25 win on the road last season. All three games were decided by 10 points or fewer.

It will be the first Halloween game for PC since 2015. The Blue Hose are 8-6-1 all-time on Oct. 31, a history that starts with a 1914 game at Clemson that ended in a 6-6 tie. Self Regional Healthcare is sponsoring Homecoming. Butler returns home to host St. Thomas on Nov. 7.
