BALTIMORE, Md. — South Carolina State turned a close first half into a blowout Thursday night, scoring the last 30 points of the game on the way to a 51-10 win over Morgan State in Baltimore.

Keely Watson was sharp at quarterback from start to finish, hitting 27 of his 36 throws for 279 yards and four touchdowns, with no interceptions, spread among four different receivers. The Bulldogs piled up 509 yards of offense, 213 of them on the ground, and ran 75 plays to 48 for the Bears.

The Bulldogs scored on their first two drives to go up 14-0 in the opening quarter. Morgan State answered in the second with a fumble returned 10 yards for a touchdown and a 30-yard field goal, closing to 14-10. Watson then found Troy Hillman for a 20-yard score as time ran out in the half, sending South Carolina State to the locker room ahead 21-10.

From there it was all Bulldogs. A field goal opened the third quarter, a 10-yard touchdown pass to DJ Maultsby made it 30-10, and three fourth-quarter touchdowns finished the job.

The defense never let the Bears offense find the end zone. Morgan State ended with 150 total yards and was held to minus-12 yards rushing, and its only touchdown came on that fumble return.

South Carolina State is now 7-2, and 2-0 against MEAC foes, while Morgan State fell to 5-4 and 0-2. Under coach Chennis Berry, who took over in 2024, the Bulldogs have now won 12 straight conference games without a loss.
