CLINTON, S.C. — People in Clinton who want to remember someone can have spring daffodils planted in that person’s name, as Clinton Canopy prepares to put 600 bulbs in the ground on the Presbyterian College campus on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The nonprofit’s Daffodils for Remembrance planting runs from 9 to 11 a.m. where East Maple Street meets South Broad Street. Volunteers will do the digging, and a Community Assistance Grant is covering the cost of the bulbs.

Anyone can reserve bulbs at no cost and dedicate them to a relative, friend or co-worker, either in memory of that person or in their honor. The group posts every dedicated name on its website, where registration is open through the Daffodils for Remembrance page.

Those who cannot come that Saturday can book a time to plant earlier in the week or ask the group’s volunteers to plant on their behalf. Homeowners and business owners are also encouraged to put daffodils in the ground on their own property, and extra bulbs will be sold at the planting at two for $1.

The garden moves to a new spot each year. The 2023 planting went in at Legion Park, the 2024 bulbs lined West Main Street, and last year’s garden was set along Highway 72 in front of Clinton Elementary.

Clinton Canopy works to improve life in the city by organizing, building and promoting green space.
