LAURENS, S.C. — Laurens District 55 junior setter Aleigha Johnson took the county athlete-of-the-week nod after a three-match stretch that included a career milestone and a win over Clinton.

Across those matches she piled up 45 digs, six kills, three block assists and 74 assists, and she crossed the 1,000-assist mark for her career. Fans could cast one ballot per device from Monday until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Other nominees for the week of Oct. 5 were Laurens’ Brayden Patterson and Laurens Academy’s Braylee Burke. Self Regional Healthcare backs the 32-week series for the 2026-27 school year.

The pool covers four campuses: Clinton High, Laurens Academy, Laurens District High and Thornwell Charter. Clinton High School sits on Arrow Road as the city’s public 9-12 option for Red Devil athletics.

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, Laurens’ varsity girls volleyball side swept Greenwood 3-0 on the road, part of the same strong stretch that lifted Johnson’s profile.
