NEWBERRY, S.C. — Week 8 of the SCHSL high school football season brought decisive results for Newberry County programs on Friday night.

Newberry beat Andrew Jackson 40-14, finishing Newberry 40, Andrew Jackson 14 in Friday night action.

Mid-Carolina rolled as well, finishing Mid-Carolina 47, Columbia 8 in Midlands coverage that also tracked Mid Carolina 47, Columbia 8 on Upstate boards.

Whitmire dropped a close one as Ridge Spring – Monetta 35, Whitmire 22 closed the night for that Newberry County side.

A Midlands roundup also listed WW King 30, Newberry Academy 6 among private-school results tied to the county.

Newberry High remains the county seat program, while Mid-Carolina and Whitmire draw from nearby communities that follow Friday night games closely.

Week 8 results feed into region standings as SCHSL teams push toward the final stretch of the regular season.
