CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College rolled past St. Thomas 55-21 on Saturday at Bailey Memorial Stadium in Clinton, S.C., tying the program’s longest home winning streak at 10 games.

The Blue Hose improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Pioneer Football League. St. Thomas fell to 4-2 and 1-1 after committing five turnovers, three interceptions and two lost fumbles on a rainy afternoon.

Sophomore quarterback Landon Sharpe threw for five touchdowns and ran for another, finishing with 455 total yards. He hit Brice Johnson for a 73-yard touchdown on the opening drive and later found Johnson, Deverious Abercrombie, Caleb Johnson and Anton Smith for scores.

Senior Nick McGill intercepted a pass at the goal line early in the second quarter and returned it 41 yards, then forced and recovered a fumble in the fourth. Presbyterian built a 27-0 lead before St. Thomas scored late in the first half.

From the visitors’ side, Anthony Policare threw two touchdown passes and led St. Thomas with 60 rushing yards. Gabriel Abel scored on a 5-yard run, and Pierce McCrary had 117 receiving yards including a 53-yard touchdown. Ty Nielson recorded 12 tackles and an interception. The Tommies ran for 203 yards and passed for 207 but could not overcome the turnovers.

Presbyterian hosts Davidson next weekend at Bailey Memorial in the Carolina Border Clash. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
