# Wofford’s Machowski Joins UConn Basketball

Nils Machowski, a transfer from Wofford, has joined the University of Connecticut men’s basketball program, a development noted in an August 23, 2026, college basketball ranking update. Machowski is part of a recruiting class for UConn that also includes transfers from Duke, Seton Hall, Stanford, Jacksonville State, Northern Arizona, and Arkansas, alongside four-star prospects Colben Landrew and Junior County.

UConn’s ranking is based on the projected return of three of its top seven scorers from the previous season: Braylon Mullins, Silas Demary, and Jayden Ross. The Huskies finished the 2026 NCAA Tournament with a 34-6 record, advancing to the championship game.

The transfer portal has been active, with Kentucky also making significant additions. Former Duke and Missouri standout Mark Mitchell committed to Kentucky on Saturday, August 22, 2026, one day after receiving a temporary restraining order from a Jefferson Circuit Court in Kentucky, allowing him to pursue a fifth season of college basketball. Mitchell averaged 18.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 33.8 minutes per game at Missouri last season. His addition moved Kentucky to No. 12 in the 2026-27 preseason college basketball rankings.

A recent ruling by the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday, August 21, 2026, granted the NCAA’s stay request in the Wisne vs. NCAA lawsuit. This decision immediately rendered qualifying players from the Class of 2022 ineligible for a fifth season, unless they had already secured temporary restraining orders or injunctions. This ruling impacted players such as Florida’s Denzel Aberdeen, Michigan’s Kenny Noland, Gonzaga’s Javon Bennett, and Louisville’s Seth Trimble, among others. Despite this, these players are currently being treated as roster members in the rankings, as they remain committed to their programs and are attempting to restore their eligibility.
